Rope Trick

This is a fun rope trick you can practice at home or show to friends. With just a short piece of rope and a few simple moves, you can quickly create two knots—one on the top of your hand and one underneath.

Instructions

  1. Start with a straight piece of rope. Hold the rope so both ends hang evenly.

  2. Fold the rope in half. Lay the middle of the rope across the palm of your hand so the loop rests over your hand.

  3. Pull the two rope ends through the loop. Take both loose ends (the two legs of the rope) and pull them up through the loop that is resting on your hand.

  4. Place one leg between your fingers. Take the rope strand closest to your outside fingers and place it between your pointer finger and middle finger.

  5. Flip the rope over your hand. Throw the rope over the top of your hand while holding the strands in place.

  6. Reveal the knots. When you pull the rope tight, you should see two knots appear—one on the top of your hand and another underneath.

Practice the movement a few times and the trick will become smooth and quick.
